Lithium batteries (LiFePO4) have the advantage of being cycled at 100% of their capacity having an average cycle life of 800 cycles. After this time the battery capacity will be reduced by 20%.
To extend battery life, the depth of discharge (DOD) can be reduced to 85% which will increase cycle life from 800 cycles to over 2500.
All our batteries come with a smart Battery Management System (BMS) enabling you to set your DOD values. Batteries are supplied with 100% DOD but it is recommended to set to 85% for optimal battery life.
On test at 0.5C at 24C these industrial marked 6Ah cells measure 5.6Ah
The use of a smart BMS with programmable DOD (Depth of Discharge) and OCV (Open Circuit Voltage) values for calculation of capacity.
To extend life due to voltaic stresses on the cell, the DOD can be reduced which will increase cycle life from 800 cycles to over 2500.

For maximum capacity DOD=100% (5.6Ah) you can expect 800 cycles, after which the cell's capacity will be reduced by 20%
For improved life time DOD=85% (4.76Ah) you can expect >2500 cycles
The true capacity of a battery is only the same as the usable capacity if set at 100% DOD
